The Australian Calisthenic Federation (ACF) Calisthenic Skills
Programme is a National Examination Programme administered by each State/Territory
Association. In South Australia, this is the Calisthenic Association of South
Australia (CASA).
The examination system was first introduced in 1979 to raise the standard of
calisthenics and to unify terminology and technique throughout Australia. Gradually,
to standardise competency throughout Australia, various levels have become prerequisites
for Solo and Graceful Competitions and also Coaches Accreditation.
The aim of the Calisthenic Skills Programme is to improve
technique and provide strength and correct placement for movements so that candidates
can continue to remain and enjoy our sport for many years. The programme allows
for individual progression and recognition of achievement in all facets of calisthenics.
Today the skills programme has been expanded to encompass
all ages and abilities through 3 Test levels, 4 Standards, 5 Grades and Bronze,
Silver and Gold Medals. Thousands of students each year all over Australia are
prepared and presented for their skills examination.
The Test, Standard and Grade examinations are based on a
set syllabus and music audio which emphasises technical detail, presentation
and knowledge of terminology. In the Medals section choreography and performance
are also considered.

Brighton encourages all girls to participate in the pupil
skills program. There are several coaches within the club that offer private
or group lessons for those girls interested.
All Graceful Girl, Solo and Duo participants are required
to pass the relevant skill level in the previous year to be eligible to compete.
Pupil Skills are also a prerequisite for the Coaches and Assistant Coaches Courses.
