Coaches

We are pleased to present our coaches for 2012

Seniors Team 1- Miss Kate

Kate Loveridge (nee Morton) started her calisthenics career at the West Mitcham Calisthenics College and has been involved in calisthenics for over 25 years.  She has been in 8 State/National teams and has competed in several Graceful Girl Competitions.  Kate has also done ballet, tap, rhythmic gymnastics, and competitive jazz/contemporary dance at Del Sante Dance Connection for 6 years.  Kate is an adjudicator and a very talented and well respected coach at Brighton where she has been coaching the Senior Team since 2001. Kate was also the Coach of the Intermediate National Team in 2008, gaining 3 first places.

Seniors Team 2- Miss Elyse

Elyse Szigeti started her calisthenics career when she was just 2 years old and has been doing it ever since. She started at Cove Calisthenics Club and in 1997 she moved to Darwin for a year. When she returned to Adelaide she moved to Brighton. Elyse has been in several National/State Teams including the Sub Junior National Team in 1996, JuniorNational Team in 1999 and the Inter Champ Team in 2001. Elyse has taught Graceful Girls, Solos and Duos in the past few years and was our Junior 2 coach for 2010 and 2011. She was also demonstrator for the 2008 Intermediate National Team.

Intermediates - Miss Kayla

Kayla Kearney began calisthenics aged two and has been competing for 23 years. Kayla began coaching in 2003 and has coached all age sections from Tinies through to Intermediates. Kayla also loves coaching Graceful Girls, Solos and Duos and was Assistant Coach for the 2011 Intermediate National Team. In 2011 Kayla coached our Tinies Gold team, but has moved up to coach the inters team in 2012. The Inters will be competing in the Championship Section in 2012 after winning the Division 1 Aggregate in 2011 under previous coach Miss Michelle Brown.

Juniors Team 1- Miss Melinda

Melinda Grimm (nee Smith) started calisthenics when she was 4 years old and continued competing until she was a senior.  Melinda has been in 6 State Teams, including Junior, Inter & Senior A Grade, Senior Champ and Senior National.  She then moved onto coaching and has done so for the last 18 years, having taught everything from Tinies to Seniors, and the Intermediate Championship Team in 2003.  After teaching the Brighton Intermediates for 6 years, Melinda then moved on to the Sub Junior section where she was successful in winning the Sub Junior aggregate 2 years in a row. This is her 2nd year as Coach of the Junior 1 team and in 2012 the team will be competing in the Championship Section after winning the Division 1 Aggregate in 2011.

Juniors Team 2 - Miss Laura

Laura Evans has been doing calisthenics for 19 years.  She started at the age of three at Cove Calisthenics Club then moved to Brighton Calisthenics Club as a first year intermediate.  After 3 years at Brighton she moved to Plympton Halifax for a year before returning to Brighton Calisthenics Club. Laura has been in 2 state teams, as a Junior and as an Intermediate and has also competed in many graceful girl competitions since she was a sub junior.  Over the years Laura has demonstrated for a number of teams and began her coaching career in 2007 with the Tinies Red Team and coached them again in 2008.  Miss Laura also loves to coach Graceful Girls, Solos and Duos and has coached our Mums team for their end of year concert performances. Laura was joint recipient of the 2011 Best Club Girl Award.

Juniors Team 3 - Hayley Wood

This is Hayleys first year as a coach at Brighton, however she has competed as a Senior with us in the past.

Sub Juniors Team 1- Miss Sharni

Sharni Truscott started at Brighton Calisthenics Club when she was just 2 years old.  She did her first Graceful Girl as a last year Sub Junior and has been in 3 National Teams.  Sharni gained 1st Place for her Graceful in the Senior Division 2 Final in 2007 and was coached by Miss Kate.  She has been an active member of the club having assisted with teams since 2000 and received the ‘Best Club Girl’ award in 2007.  Sharni started her coaching career in 2007 teaching the Tinies and Sub Junior 2 Team and was the coach of the Sub Junior 2's in 2009 & 2010. She has also taught several Graceful Girls and was a member of the 2009 Senior National Team. This is Sharni's 2nd year as Sub Junior 1 coach.

Sub Juniors Team 2 - Miss Megan

Megan McKell is a Life Member of Brighton and was coach of the sub junior 3's in 2011.

Tinies Team 1 - Miss Alex

Alex started at Brighton in 1992 as a 2 year old and has won the Mayoral Award on 3 occassions. As well as calisthenics, Alex has also trained in Jazz, Tap, Classical, Contemporay and Cheerleading at Diva Productions and have performed at several high level sporting events. She has also participated in school aerobics and Rock Eisteddfods and has been a demonstrator with our Sub Juniors in the past. She co-coached our Tinies team in 2010 with sister Emma. They have also worked together to choreograph 2 very successful musicals for Sacred Heart College - 'High School Musical' and 'Grease'.Alex was awarded the Best Club Girl Award in 2010.

Calitots & Saturday morningTinies - Miss Emma

Emma is a life member at Brighton & has won the Mayoral Award 3 times. She has demonstrated for our Tinies team in the past & started her coaching career last year co-coaching the Tinies with sister Alex. They have also worked together to choreograph 2 very successful musicals for Sacred Heart College - 'High School Musical' and 'Grease'. Emma has also trained in other forms of dance such as Jazz, Tap, Classical, Contemporay and Cheerleading at Diva Productions and has performed at several high level sporting events. Emma will once again be teaching our new fun class 'Cali Tots' for those aged under 3.5 years in 2012 as well as taking on a new Saturday morning tinies team.

Tinies - Miss Brooke (Trainee)

Brooke Dinnison joins our coaching team in 2012 as a Trainee. Brooke will be assisted and mentored by Frances Edwards.

Tinies - Miss Frances

Francis Edwards is a Life Member of the club and has been assisting our Intermediate Team for the past couple of years.
